Last Time We Learned…
- That God’s sovereign plan is shown in Japheth’s sons’ mention in prophecy.
- That even God’s enemies exist under God’s sovereign hand?
- That God allowed a line of close relations that contains some who were not faithful
Questions for this Week…
Question #1: “What is common Grace?”
Answer #1: “Common Grace is how God gives good things to the world who hates Him.”
Question #2: “How did we get the Bible text?”
Answer #2: “By means of the Lord’s work in history that we can see and praise.”
Question #3: “How did we get so many English Translations of the Bible?”
Answer #3: “Mostly for monetary purposes; but instead of money, we must follow Jesus’ use of Scripture.”
‘Examining’ – ἀνακρίνοντες (anakrinontes) – A description of a group taking dramatic action to “…to engage in careful study of a question, question, examine…” 1 So this group of ‘Noble’ Jews held Scripture with all eagerness, and subjected them to careful study to see if what Paul was saying was so.
The whole counsel of God concerning all things necessary for His own Glory, man’s salvation, faith, and life, is either expressly set down in Scripture, or by good and necessary consequence may be deduced from Scripture: unto which nothing at any time is to be added …” 2
